The European Commission has awarded Hamburg the title European Green Capital 2011 . <br />Hamburg won the competition by showing how even an industrial metropolis can rise to the challenges of climate- and environmental protection. Hamburg aims to reduce CO2 emissions by about 40 percent by 2020.
